We use Streambox to live stream to our campuses. The Streambox starts by taking in a video feed from our switcher with embedded audio through a frame synchronizer and format converter. This converts our 1080i video to 720p and makes sure the video is timed correctly. The Streambox encoders then feed the stream into a Streambox Enterprise Server that distributes the video to our remote locations over our MPLS network.
To send our live stream to our website we start by encoding a 720p video feed with a Digital Rapids StreamZ HD encoder into several different H.264 streams. These encoded feeds are sent to our hosting provider, Ooyala, and are then passed back to the video player on our website as one multi-bitrate feed.
